"Best ever budget accommodation"
I stayed at Shelford Lodge with my son (19) and my daughter (22) because we were going to a weekend party in a nearby village. The staff were brilliant and could not have been more friendly or helpful. We had a delightful triple bed room with comfortable beds and shared bathrooms that were clean and functional. The breakfast was far better than expected with hummus and olives, cheeses and meat, croissants and toast, eggs and cereals and yoghurt, fresh fruit and excellent coffee. Read less

Likes:
The hotel was available at short notice at a very reasonable price.
Dislikes:
1) The door between the smoking balcony and the breakfast room is left open, so that tobacco smoke is blown back into the building and through the rooms.
2) No cereal left for early breakfast.

"Different but Adequate for one Night"
We were just staying overnight after a family event at Grantchester. The location was ideal for this and for leaving Cambridge in the morning. I would have liked to have been shown how to use the kitchen facilities, which were not obvious, for a late cuppa. We had an en suite room and all in all it was good for the price and for purpose. We liked the location and the breakfast; and the room was light and airy - in rather hot weather for Cambridge !
Dislikes:
It was a bit impersonal

We opened in January 2012 offering budget friendly and informal lodge accommodation in a quiet village location. SHELFORD VILLAGE has a wide range of shops as well as banks, a Post Office, library, its own Health Centre, chemist, a river walk and St. Mary' Parish church. The Shelford Lodge is located three miles south of the city centre of Cambridge, on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Great Shelford. We are well situated for local medical facilities, with Addenbrookes and the Evelyn Private Hospital both nearby, Plus direct and easy access to Cambridge and all its facilities and attractions.

THE LODGE IS NEAR many excellent places to visit, including grounds and tearooms of Wimpole Hall and the country park run by the Cambridgeshire Wildlife Trust in the grounds of the Iron Age fort at Wandlebury just two miles away. The Cam, the village of Grantchester and Byron's Pool are nearby, as are the many delights of Cambridge itself.

THE CITY OF CAMBRIDGE offers some of the best cultural, commercial and medical facilities in the country. King's College and the Fitzwilliam Museum are just two of the finest examples of what is on offer for those who take the time to explore the city.
