Short visit, all we needed was a place to spend the night. Booked a twin room, phoned to confirm in advance. Sadly told on the day that it wasn't available. After 7 hours to "swap rooms around", nothing had been done. Finally offered a family room, but asked to pay more! Why?!?! Paid it just because we were tired of waiting! Disappointing... Read less

The place dingy, dirty carpets all over. The Bedroom floor dirty, no towels in the room. The breakfast room, floor dirty, banisters sticky, coffee machine dirty and the breakfast looked disgusting. Some of the Did not eat eventually had a coffe slice of toast and left. The car park was a scary to park the car so scruffy. We had to clear up after breakfast. We have travelled a lot and this was the worst place,we have stayed. We had an American in our group and we called it the Bates Motel. Read less
Likes:
The bedlinnen was clean and the bath and washbasin clean. If not we would have decided not to stay and drive back. t is a good location but needs more attention to cleanliness and the outside.
Dislikes:
We hated the place. It was for one night only and the bedlinnen and bathroom was clean we stayed. Some of our group skipped breakfast as the place was so dirty. I think the price a rip off.

We opened in January 2012 offering budget friendly and informal lodge accommodation in a quiet village location. SHELFORD VILLAGE has a wide range of shops as well as banks, a Post Office, library, its own Health Centre, chemist, a river walk and St. Mary' Parish church. The Shelford Lodge is located three miles south of the city centre of Cambridge, on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Great Shelford. We are well situated for local medical facilities, with Addenbrookes and the Evelyn Private Hospital both nearby, Plus direct and easy access to Cambridge and all its facilities and attractions.

THE LODGE IS NEAR many excellent places to visit, including grounds and tearooms of Wimpole Hall and the country park run by the Cambridgeshire Wildlife Trust in the grounds of the Iron Age fort at Wandlebury just two miles away. The Cam, the village of Grantchester and Byron's Pool are nearby, as are the many delights of Cambridge itself.

THE CITY OF CAMBRIDGE offers some of the best cultural, commercial and medical facilities in the country. King's College and the Fitzwilliam Museum are just two of the finest examples of what is on offer for those who take the time to explore the city.
