"Simply Stunning! Accommodation, service and scenery are second to none."
A short weekend break, the second visit this year. Time to relax, enjoy walks with the dog along the river and snuggle up in front of the log fire - Priceless. The scenery is stunning and ability to be close to wildlife more than rewarding. Our first visit I was rewarded with sight of my first 'wild' otter, this time the Woodpecker sang for us as we relaxed outside. Food at 'The Duke' was very good as was the attentive service we received as recommended to us by our hosts. Read less

"A perfect base to explore the north east, cosy, romantic, stylish, comfortable and great location"
We were met by the owners on arrival who immediately made us feel at home and welcome, in fact we also discovered they'd left a welcome box of chocolates and wine plus a start up breakfast which was all very unexpected and incredibly kind. The accommodation is perfect for two, well planned, well equipped, even with treats for our dog! It's also beautifully decorated and sits in a beautiful setting on the edge of the river wear. We saw an Otter and loved going to sleep listening to the water. Read less

The setting the most, the cottage itself and it's closeness to all the areas we wanted to visit. We also booked Kynren, a new annual theatrical event which we would highly recommend.
