A clean bed in a cheap room, with a shower and a new TV, and free wireless.
Dislikes:
The place seemed very tired, apart from the TV.

Easy Parking. Room tired but clean. Late check in OK.
Dislikes:
Shower smelled of sewer after the saniflo pump drained the u-bends. Breakfast booked for 9am. Chef starts cooking at 9:10. Chef manner friendly but rather foul mouthed, but not on task, but food OK

"No Stay was a Good Stay"
Having the booking confirmed already in March, the owner throw us out only a few days before our planned stay in August in favour of frequenters and telling us about a double booking.
We cannot actually rate the facilities but we feel service orientation and friendliness lacking in this location completely.
At least we were given the phone number of a different accomodation, but that's not real dedication to show responsibility for the booking mess. Read less

A friendly family owned restaurant and public house, The Hero of Aliwal is named after Whittlesey's most famous son, Sir Harry Smith. In an idyllic location close to the river, The Hero of Aliwal is located in quiet surroundings, very popular with anglers and contractors.

An excellent selection of real ales, changed on a weekly basis. Oakhams Ales, Adnams, Broadside and Summer Lightening, to name but a few. Our restaurant provides warm, comfortable surroundings, with a great selection of food to choice from.

The modern-day city of Peterborough in Cambridgeshire, hides a wealth of history just waiting to be uncovered. Visit Flag Fen Bronze Age Centre where archaeologists found the oldest wheel in Britain. Then fast forward a few centuries to discover the "new" 12th century cathedral with the largest surviving example of a painted wooden ceiling from the Middle Ages.

Peterborough Museum is the city's most haunted building - you can join in a ghost tour if you dare! They also have one of the best collections of marine monsters in the world. Why not take a trip on one of the steam engines at Nene Valley Railway and feel yourself transported to a bygone age. But do not forget our natural pleasures - green open spaces, lakes and riverside or take to two wheels and make most of the Green Wheel cycle network.

Enjoy our events - CAMRA Beer Festival, East of England Show, the Peterborough Festival or just relax with a nightout at the theatre or the greyhound stadium.
