Response from The Grove:
Disappointed to get 4 for value - especially as (1) we haven't incresed our rates since opening for business in 2008 (2) we are consistently cheaper than other B&Bs in this area - even those with lower gradings (3) local Premier Inns are currently charging more for ROOM ONLY (up to £40 more with breakfast) and (4) when we recently stayed in Ken's area (in June before high season rates were common) we had to pay significantly more for similar quality, so his view of value is open to question.

Wonderful friendly stay in what is obviously a much loved house. Gerry is a font of local knowledge and a member of a very good local male voice choir.

Your hosts Mair and Gerry look forward to welcoming you in person to their lovely "home from home" ~ The Grove, Llanfairfechan ~ the 2009 Calor Village of the Year for North Wales. Elegant five-star en-suite B&B accommodation in an idyllic position ~ on the North Wales Coast, at the edge of Snowdonia, near the University City of Bangor, facing the Isle of Anglesey across the Menai Straits and close to Llandudno and Conwy Valley.

Nestling between 3000ft mountains and the coast The Grove enjoys a central position ~ with easy access to the North Wales Path (including a Roman Road), the Carneddau Mountains of Snowdonia, the shoreline (with several nature reserves) looking out at the mouth of the Menai Straits, Ynys Seiriol (Puffin Island) and Y Gogarth (the "Great Orme" headland in Llandudno ("The Queen of Welsh Resorts" ~ easy to get to along the very scenic coastal part of the A55). Nearby are the North Wales Cycle Route and many golf courses (around 50 within an hour), castles, stately homes and gardens, narrow gauge railways, marinas, and fishing opportunities.

Built in the Edwardian Period, this detached residence retains a wealth of original character. Following major refurbishment it now also offers a high level of modern comforts. If you want "a sense of place" and to experience the best of Welsh hospitality with an abundance of activities (many of which we can help you to book) then this is the place for you. We can help you to plan your break, including transfers to and from airports, seaports, coach stations and railway stations if you want to leave the car behind.

We provide a comprehensive list of restaurants and pubs where you can enjoy the best of local cuisine for your lunches and evening meals. We can help with arrangements for taxis so you needn't worry about having a drink or finding your way around. We provide comprehensive information on local activities and a well stocked library, including many items to enrich your experience of Wales
