Another very enjoyable visit to Penrose House on our never ending attempt to cycle Lands end to Jon o'groats mission.
Chris and Heidi as friendly and accommadating as ever, squeezed us in for an extra night due to our over ambitious cycling aims. Worth the extra night just for the wonderful breakfast but rooms very spacious, comfortable, full of character and spotlessly clean. Highly recommended. Read less

"Generosity"
Wonderful warm greeting in the car park. Immediately told of the area and walks I could do. The room contained everything you could think of needing and would be more along the lines of a 5 star hotel in terms of what all was thought of that a person may need. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Penrose epitomises generosity and going way beyond value for money Read less

I would have wanted to have been able to turn off the heating - opening the window for fresh air while keeping the heating on doesn't gel with my environmental background

"Stop looking now !"
This was our first family holiday with our 3 month old twins! We were made to feel very welcome , we stayed from Friday until Monday . Our sat nav died and I rang Penrose and Chris came to the end of the lane ( In the pouring rain ! ) to greet us , it's a gorgeous house , breakfast fantastic with never ending choice of drinks , food etc . Free wifi was fab as signal is poor so was a real bonus and we had help planning our trips too. Can't say enough good things about Penrose ! Read less

Chris & Heidi welcome you to Penrose, their elegant Victorian home. Be prepared to be spoilt when you book into Penrose B&B as Chris & Heidi pride themselves on hospitality and the kind of finishing touches that make a visit memorable.

Built in 1900, Penrose retains a wealth of original features, including fireplaces in most of the large rooms, cornicing, ceiling roses, chandeliers, high ceilings and stained glass windows.

Even though Penrose is elegant and grand, when you walk in you will experience a homely and laid back atmosphere. As you will see below, most of the rooms are lovely and large with ensuite facilities, plus comfy seating and lots of added extras. Breakfast is full cooked and locally sourced plus as much cereal, toast, orange juice, fruit, tea & coffee as you want.

There is free WiFi and a computer available in the dining room. The garden is for all to share and there is off road parking. If you come by train, let us know and we can come and pick you up.

Children and dogs are welcome.

There are lots of amenities close by including: The Eden Project (10 minutes away), Lost Gardens of Heligan, Coastal walks, Cycling, Fishing and Sailing, Golf courses galore (including one in Lostwithiel) and National Trust gardens & houses.

Lostwithiel is a hidden gem. It is a mecca for eating fantastic food, with the local pubs, restaurants and takeaways all within a 5/10 minute walk of the house. Lostwithiel is also the antiques capital of Cornwall, plus it boasts tea shops, markets, church, castle, river, parks, boats, museum and a train station.
