"An oppportunity to see some amazing views enjoy walks and cycling in an unspoilt part of the world"
We stayed for 3 nights at the Oyster Catcher visiting a friends family to enjoy a 60th Birthday surprise and enjoying the beautiful views and attractions of unspoilt Rostrevor which boosted views of the Lock and Mountains.
James the owner was a brilliant host, he shared lots of local knowledge and historical stories about the towns past. He was welcoming, friendly and his humour kept us entertained. Breakfast was traditional and filling and the smoothies were amazing. Read less

It is very well situated just over an hours drive from Dublin. Walking and mountain biking are only 5 minutes away and the view of the lock allows you to drink up the view south and north of Ireland

Only problem was the single bed I had was not really for an adult. I had to be careful and ensure my weight was distributed evenly as the slats were not the strongest. However it did not spoil my enjo
Response from The Oystercatcher:
Hello Jim Thanks for the review. Happy to see you back anytime. Will make up for the bed if you contact me directly next time you book. James

the room is lovely, the b&b is very close to the town, where there are a few great pubs and Paula's fish and chips.
Dislikes:
The restaurants close early on a sunday, so make sure you're in the village before 8pm to get a decent meal. We were late and had to go for the fish and chips, which was fantastic btw.
Response from The Oystercatcher:
Gareth Thank you very much for a brilliant ( and very truthful!) review. Pleasure to share our home with you and I will get on to those early Sunday closers. Glad you enjoyed the fish and chips

The breakfast was delicious and the owners were friendly and interested in chatting. I learned more about the local area from them.
Dislikes:
The internet access in my room was very slow. But I was able to use the internet in the dining room so that was okay.
Response from The Oystercatcher:
Happy that your stay was good for you. Sorry about the internet slowness. I have since got hi-speed optical from BT and it fair whizzes. If you are coming back ring me direct and I will make up for the slow connection. James
