The fact it was located a amile off the motorway, but was quiet, comfortable and delightful hosts, and a good breakfast.

Crossroads was a bit noisy - both from traffic noise (it is at a Crossroads) and with paper thin walls. Beds were a bit too soft for my taste (why can't B&B proprietors buy decent mattresses?) and we ended up having to traipse down the hall to the "private" bathroom - another interesting turn of a phrase. Should have known when they didn't use the words "en suite." Hosts were nice and the breakfast was the best part of the stay. Not the best value for the money. Read less

In response to the review, we did have some guests next to them who we think arrived home late, we can only apologise if it was them. We do buy "decent" quality mattresses but we can not cater for all guests requirements regarding firmness. Regarding the wording Private Bathroom the gentleman needs to take that up with the booking agency, as it is their terminology not ours. Finely, why do people book B&B accommodation and expect top class hotel facilities.

Conveniently situated just 2 minutes from junction 42 on the M6 and easy access for many Cumbrian attractions and activities because there is more to Cumbria than the Lake District!
After a day exploring one of the many areas with spectacular scenery why not relax in our comfortable guest lounge and watch a DVD with a drink from our house bar or read a book in a quiet area of our conservatory.
Breakfast is served in our sunny dining room with spectacular views over the rolling countryside. Plan your day ahead over a traditional award winning Cumbrian breakfast.
Crossroads house is an excellent base for exploring north Cumbria whatever your interests or activity, be it walking, cycling, fishing, photography, Roman history, shopping or just relaxing and enjoying the beautiful scenery.
