Likes:
The homely atmosphere. Our lovely hosts John and Joan were friendly and helpful. The king size bed was extremely comfortable. We loved the area, small village, peaceful.
Dislikes:
Bit surprised to find we had to share a bathroom as site did not indicate this but it didn't prove to be a problem in the end.

"A Warm Welcome"
Step outside the door of The Old Post Office in Birch Vale and there are walks in every direction, including the Pennine Bridleway, which linked villages by pack horse in centuries past. You are rewarded with super views towards Kinder within a few hundred yards' climb of the B&B. New Mills, a small Victorian mill town just south, and Hayfield, now virtually traffic-free to the north, have much to interest the visitor.

Our hosts, John and Joan went out of their way to make sure we had a comfortable stay in premises which Joan ran as the village Post Office for 17 years previously.
Dislikes:
Car parking is a bit tricky; be prepared to walk up and down the lane from your vehicle as you may not be able to park directly outside The Old Post Office.

Located approximately 300 yards from Sett Valley Trail, two miles from foot of Kinder scout,of mass trespass fame, and two miles from Torrs millenium walkway, New Mills. Ideal for walkers and cyclists or lazy breaks.

The Old Post Office - Around Us is The Peak District is famous for walking and many quality local walks can be taken right from the door step. The most famous local walk being Kinder Scout but that is only the start.

With the “Sett Valley Trail” (reaching from Hayfield to New Mills) within a few hundred yards, bike rides are also a big favour with visitors.

Even if your stay is to be more sedentary our aim is to make your stay as comfortable and as memorable as possible.

Our rates are some of the best around with service and comfort coming first what ever the price!

Nobody likes it when prices are hiked up during so called “high seasons”, so we don’t!

Same rates all year round, nice and simple.
