water pressure too low to rinse shampoo out of my hair. Bottled water would be welcome to use in the kettle.

Likes:
Large rooms, well-furnished house with character, access to piano and organ
Dislikes:
Felt a bit rundown, eg bedside lights did not work. Breakfast, although freshly cooked, could have been improved by better quality ingredients and more generous portions.

Lucky to have one of the few en-suite rooms but there was no shower. Heating was sporadic. Silver plated forks used in the dining room that had not been cleaned in ages.

Overseale House is a fine George II Grade 2* Country House, it offers excellent bed and breakfast accommodation in historic surroundings in the heart of Derbyshire.

Overseale House is ideally situated on the A444 and is close to the Heart of the National Forest, Conkers, Moira Furnace, Ashby Canal, Twycross Zoo, Boswoth Battlefield, The Belfry golf course and Donnington race track. It is the ideal place to stay for a visit to the heart of the English countryside.

Swadlincote, the largest town in this part of Derbyshire, is on the borders of Leicestershire and Staffordshire. The town was established as part of this area's pottery and brick industries These were been replaced by engineering and service industries in the 20th century.
As a sizable town it has good shopping facilities, including a pedestrianised area, a leisure centre, and a dry ski slope. Outside Swadlincote the area has been renovated to turn the spoil heaps and other industrial waste land into park lands.

The house boasts eight bedrooms plus three bathrooms running along a central corridor which extends the full length of the house. There are three separate landings. Each bedroom has a different style of decoration and individual fireplace. The main kitchen is the original kitchen and still has its original wall cupboards. The four-oven aga range is used for cooking and heating water. The room at the rear of the kitchen would have been the servant's kitchen and incorporated a bread oven.

The Dining Room's main feature is its late Georgian fireplace and its original windows with rare side catches. The cornice is very distinctive and an excellent example of the type decoration found in stately homes of this period. The room is framed by its mahogany doors which are accentuated in this room by the Barbadian mahogany dining table.
