The room that we had booked was out of action due to a leak so we were given an upgrade to a more expensive room with no extra charge. The room was comfortable and very clean and couldn't of been any better . Read less

Comfortable room and great breakfast. The rates were very reasonable given the value received. The owners were very friendly and made us feel at home.
Dislikes:
Paignton is not really our kind of town with too many tourists. Although the B&B was good, it could use a more comfortable common sitting area with couches etc.

A traditional but refined Victorian guest house with luxurious touches, together with superb AA award winning breakfasts, with vegetarian and lighter options, await you in an environment where you can truly feel at home.
A warm and friendly Adults Only B&B set in a quiet residential position, Merritt House is just off the sea front, close to the town centre. The traditional Victorian townhouse accommodation, with some original features, is light and airy, and is furnished to compliment the period building which retains many of its original features. Only five minutes’ level walk to Paignton town centre, the seafront, and the bus and rail stations, Merritt House is the ideal base for enjoying the best of Paignton, and the Torbay area.
Paignton and the English Riviera have much to offer. Merritt House is located within 2 minutes walk of the South West Coast Path, very close to several ‘blue flag’ beaches, the Paignton to Dartmouth steam railway, a leisure centre with swimming pool and fitness centre, bay cruises, fantastic walks, restaurants and pubs. Walkers, cyclists, sailing enthusiasts and those on activity breaks are welcome to take advantage of our facilities for drying boots and other wet gear.
After a good night’s sleep in one of our seven comfortable, centrally heated, en-suite bedrooms, start your day with an AA-award winning breakfast, with delicious local fresh produce, served in our ground floor dining room. We also offer self-service afternoon tea and cake, and a variety of tasty packed lunches.
All bedrooms have ensuite facilities, and have flat screen TV/DVD, hairdryer, iron, ironing board, luggage racks, complimentary toiletries, towels, ceiling fan, and hospitality tray.
We ask our guests to help conserve our natural resources by reducing energy and water use. Bed linen will be changed twice weekly for those guests staying longer than four days unless requested otherwise. Towels are changed every three days - leaving them in the shower cubicle indicates that you wish them to be changed more frequently.Please switch off electrical items and lights before leaving the room.All rooms have thermostatically controlled radiators; if you are leaving for the day, please conserve energy by turning the thermostat down.
