The staff were friendly and helpful, and our meal the first night was excellent. Tea/coffee/biscuit supplies replenished daily, which was very welcome. We saw a kingfisher twice on the river - amazing
Dislikes:
No heating on in the rooms in the evening, even when I turned on the radiator, so very cold. The hot water in my brother's room ran out once he'd shaved, so he had to have a cold shower.

I had a relaxing stay as I badly needed to recharge my battery, get some sleep, be fed, and enjoy the river dart. The room was very comfortable, and even though I was staying on my own which I dont normally do I was made to feel welcome. Read less
Likes:
The bed was incredibly comfortable, the room was clean with a range of water and teas even my peppermin tea- and the shower was great.
Dislikes:
My first dinner was not that great. The curry was very salty and it literally was only rice and lots of lamb w - no vegetables or side dish and the poppadom was stale. Second dinner was much better.
Response from The Watermans Arms:
We are very pleased to hear that you had a relaxing stay here at The Waterman's.Glad to hear you found the bed very comfortable and liked the selection of drinks we have for all the rooms
Sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your curry on the first night, I shall be looking into this. It's always great to hear this kind of constructive feedback, it helps us to improve our service where needed.

Thank you for your lovely review and we hope to see you again in the future!

A quintessential 17th Century Inn, located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, at the bottom of a steep valley next to Bow Creek and bridge. The Inn has been used as a smithy, a brew house, petrol station, a prison and a haunt for the feared press gangs. The area was recorded in the doomsday book.

Built in the 17th-century, Waterman’s Arms overlooks tinkling Bow Creek, near Tuckenhay. Hidden away at the bottom of a steep valley, the streamside tables are perfect for savouring a pint of the fine Palmer’s Copper Ale. The lunches, sourced from local suppliers and served under an outdoor awning, attract foodies from as far away as Exeter and Plymouth.

Golfing, fishing and walking are just a few of the hundreds of opportunities for outdoor adventure whilst staying at The Waterman's Arms.

We have seven top class golf courses just a short car ride from us and if you let us know that you are wishing to play we can assist you with all the necessary arrangements, stocked lakes to fly fish and miles of tranquil rivers where you can laze away hours in the hazy afternoon sun.

We have fifteen beautiful, well appointed en-suite rooms with large bathrooms and powerful showers in the Annexe and spacious powerful shower rooms in the Inn. Direct dial telephones and free Wi-Fi equipped throughout.

We have two separate dining rooms, on three different levels, seating no more than 35 people in each, they have been recently updated and are now bright, airy and as modern as a 17th century inn can be!

Being close to the stunning Devon coast opens up not only the chance to walk a part of the beautiful and awe-inspiring Southwest Coastal Footpath but offers fishing both onshore and off one of the many wrecks that litter our shoreline.
