A warm welcome from the owners made us feel nothing was too much trouble. We were able to come and go as we pleased - the freshly cooked food offered for breakfast included fresh muffins.

Staying at The Old George was a delight. The hosts were very welcoming and their home was beautifully decorated throughout. We stayed 3 nights after a busy family wedding and it was lovely to unwind. Dorset has some gorgeous countryside and it is really rural. Our room was comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Read less
Likes:
We liked the location of the B&B as it was inland enough to be away from the hustle of the seaside. We loved the sound of the church bells one evening and the local pub was also handy.
Dislikes:
We felt that the provision of a recommended list of local eating establishments should have been provided. It appears that there are very few establishments open for food on Sundays and Mondays.
Response from The Old George:
Thank you for your kind review - we are very pleased you enjoyed your stay. We realise that finding somewhere to eat on Sunday and Monday evening can be a problem and there is a list of restaurants on the Guest Information sheet in each room. We hope very much that you will stay with us again. Kind regards. Christina.

The Old George offers luxury accommodation and a warm welcome in a traditional and picturesque village setting. AA 5 Star Gold Award and Breakfast Award 2018.

Located in West Dorset, close to the borders of Devon and Somerset, The Old George makes the ideal base for exploring the Jurassic Coast and the unspoilt local countryside.
In one day you could stroll around the beautiful gardens at Forde Abbey in Somerset just seven miles away, visit the picturesque seaside town of Beer in Devon for lunch and then take a walk up Pilsdon Pen for a spectacular view of Dorset - before returning to The Old George for a well deserved rest!

Discover the real Broadchurch! Bridport and West Bay and the surrounding area provided the stunning locations for this popular TV series.

We have three spacious rooms all newly refurbished to a very high standard with every consideration made for the comfort of our guests - egyptian cotton bed linen, feather and down duvets, luxurious toiletries and fluffy bathrobes. All our rooms are en suite and guests have the choice of charming traditional bathrooms with roll-top baths or a modern luxury shower room.

Broadwindsor's most noted claim to fame is its connections with King Charles II. King Charles took refuge in the Castle Inn in 1651 whilst escaping from the parliamentarians. Troops intended to search the inn but were side tracked by a rumpus in the village over a baby being born to a camp follower. When they eventually sorted out the problem they went straight to bed, exhausted. This allowed Charles, disguised as a serving wench, to escape. The Castle Inn burnt down and was rebuilt in 1850 as the George Inn.

Braodwindsor is home to a thriving Craft and Design Centre offering a wide range of local crafts, unique gifts and an award winning restaurant. The local pub, the White Lion, is just across the Square if you fancy a quiet drink and our secluded garden is the ideal place to relax - weather permitting!
