Me and my boyfriend stayed at Swallows Rest for 2 nights and I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone wanting to stay in the Dorset area. Jane and Keith were so friendly to us and Jane goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome (baking fresh cakes). The B&B itself is so homely and the breakfast was very tasty with it's local ingredients. The surroundings of the B&B are fantastic, with the fleet lagoon within a couple of minutes walking distances and beautiful coastal paths. Read less

"Overnighter"
We were visiting friends in the area and were recommended to stay at Swallows Rest. We received a friendly welcome and tea and cake after putting our bags in the rooms. As there are only 4 B&B rooms and 2 were already booked on the dates we had to take the twin and single with double bed. Both were very clean, however, the single room was quite small for 2 people and I wouldn't have liked to spend more than 1 night. The twin room was fine. Read less

Lovely garden and animals, friendly hosts and clean rooms.
Dislikes:
Maybe the single room with double bed should stay as a single room except in emergencies. It is also right next to the staircase for the self catering accommodation!!!
Response from Swallows Rest:
Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We do advertise the room as a single. It is a small room with double bed and ensuite shower facilies, which most single rooms don't have. It also has the advantage of a staircase down to the gardens. Some couples prefer to pay less and use it as a double room or, as in your case, when the other rooms have already been booked. We always upgrade guests when superior rooms are available. We're pleased you enjoyed your stay.

Visit Swallows Rest and discover Dorset, a county of outstanding natural beauty which boasts England’s World Heritage Site known as the Jurassic Coast, with rolling hills, breath taking countryside, beautiful villages, and sandy and award winning beaches. We're on the South West Coastal Path National Trail with 630 miles of superb coastline, one of the top walks in the world. The heritage, wildlife, geology and scenery along the way are truly inspirational.

At the bottom of our land is the world famous Chesil Beach and the Fleet Saltwater Estuary which runs 10 miles along to Abbotsbury.

Our Bed & Breakfast rooms, beautifully decorated with an eclectic mix of furniture, are named after birds which frequent the Fleet Nature Reserve: Merganser, Redshank, Sandpiper & Little Tern. Our rooms cost from £75 for double occupancy and from £50 for single occupancy.

Dorset chocolates and home made cakes, tea and coffee are served in the bedrooms on Royal Doulton and Wedgewood china collections. Original artwork by Roger Smith, the owner's son, of Jurassic Coast Gallery and local nightscape photography by Ollie Taylor is displayed throughout the property.

Rooms have sea views of the Fleet Saltwater Estuary and Chesil Beach across the fields where the horses, alpacas and sheep graze. Guests have access to the gardens, the summer house and fields with a footpath through our land leading down to the sea which is just 300 metres from the farm house.

We use our chicken, bantam and duck eggs for breakfast, dry cured bacon and sausages from local butchers, and homemade cakes, granola, jams and marmalade are our speciality.

We have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Archie. Our pet pigs George & Mildred wander freely in the gardens along with rare breed chicken, ducks and beautiful bantams. In the fields we have Wiltshire Longhorn sheep and horses, including Fudge a gorgeous blond Shetland pony, Charlie & Coco miniature Shetland ponies and Alpacas Kim, Barney & Angus
