Beautiful furnishings and décor, fantastically friendly and helpful staff, and in a great location to explore the junk shops and bohemian environs of St Leonards.
Dislikes:
Nothing at all. It really was perfect. I can't recommend it enough.

Hello Jordan

"Magical"
I visited Hastings for two nights with my wife. We pottered in antique shops and walked around town. But the highlight without a doubt was revisiting St Benedict's B&B, which is like no other place. It is stepping into the most beautifully curated, lovingly arranged, carefully considered and detailed recreation of a period Victorian home. It's breathtaking, and every moment in the house is suffused with magic - though it is not in the least twee, stuffy or precious. The welcome is utterly warm. Read less

It is simplest to say that St Benedict's is a time-machine. It's not merely a place to stay, but a place to go - I could holiday in Hastings and never leave my room. It's magical, utterly transporting
Dislikes:
There is nothing bad to be said about this precious place. I want to keep it a secret so that nothing about it is changed, but it's only fair to write an honest review; St Benedict is a treasure.
Response from St Benedict B&B:
Hello Lindsay
Very many thanks for your lovely and very generous review, which we much appreciate. I am so glad that you enjoyed the house so much and am sorry not to have met you in person. Do come again for another visit to put that right.
Very best wishes Paul

"Victorious!"
Homemade cake with tea, in front of the fire, on arrival.Beautifully decorated, with care, and flare! We felt we were away from everything and put in suptuous surroundings. Steve and Paul were great hosts and we loved the big table to eat at in the morning, again with fire, so to chat with other guests, and a fernery in the window! Radiators on all the time which was just lovely in the cold weather. If I changed anything it would be to have a veggie sausage with breakfast and a dressing up box! Read less

Hello Deb
Thank you so much for your lovely review. You could have had a veggie sausage, but a dressing up box will take longer to organise - please bring suitable Victorian costume next time!
Very best wishes

St Benedict is a beautiful and comfortable home built in 1881, and is finished and run with the style and comfort of a bygone age.

On arrival our guests may take tea on the lawns where a snowy cloth is laid with fine china and home baking straight from the Aga or in the winter sit in the drawing room in front of a roaring fire. If you wish you can arrange to have a full dinner in the victorian dining room with a choice of Mrs Beeton's traditional recipes prepared 'below stairs'.

Every morning tea can be brought to you before you come down for breakfast, served country house style. Help yourself to a full English breakfast or try such empire favourites as kedgeree.

We have two cosy second-floor double bedrooms with sea views. Each guest room has its own private bathroom with sink or washstand, a rolltop bath with a handheld hairwashing attachment. There is no shower.

Before you leave why not enjoy a stroll through the garden, the peach house, or sit in the summer house or even have a few minutes' quiet in the garden chapel.

We will do our best to make your visit to St Benedict an opportunity for you to be well looked after and even spoilt a little!

Hastings is a cosmopolitan coastal town which lies between the rugged beauty of the East and West Hills and has its own 660 acre country park. Home to Europe's largest beach-launched fishing fleet.

This charming market town grew up around the Abbey and takes its name from the 1066 battle between England's would-be rulers William, Duke of Normandy and the Saxon King Harold.

With famous international events & festivals in Goodwood, Glyndebourne,Chichester, Arundel, Eastbourne and Britain's newest National Park - The South Downs, Sussex is the place to visit this summer.
