Overnight stay with family in room 5. By any standard the room is poor. Whist clean, things like a toilet brush without a head ,no soap in bathroom near sink, you get a small shower bottle with your towel which was well worn.. I toilet roll. Beds with springs twisting , but a nice view of the river. Read less

"Disappointing"
We chose the Hope and Anchor as its location by the river looked idyllic. However, after arriving in the bar, we then had to haul our case outside, up a hill then up a winding staircase to our small room, with an even smaller, smelly bathroom.
There were spilled coffee stains on the wall, and a mattress that twanged like an out-of-tune guitar every time I turned over. There was no breakfast facilities, in fact no one on the premises the following morning. We left the key in the room as asked. Read less

Surrounding area's are of a natural beauty and include, Symonds Yat East/West which is a 10 minuet drive down the A40 towards Monmouth. A walk can be taken on the East side of Symonds up to the Yat Rock where you can take in the panoramic views of the Wye Valley. Kingfisher Cruises operate a scheduled service up and down the River Wye. A ferry can pull you over to the West side. On the West is the Leisure Park and Butterfly Zoo.

Go over the border to Wales by visiting the historic town of Monmouth which is just a short 15 minuet drive.

The Hills farms fields and Valleys of the Hereford country side has changed little over the years. You will still find many of the Black and White houses. The Cathedral located at the heart of town still holds the Mappa Mundi, the famous medieval map f the world. There is also a cider museum which is well worth a visit.

Gloucester is 35 minutes is the other direction where the newly opened Docklands Factory outlet can be found for those that like to shop
