"Perfect"
Our stay was ideal for our needs and we wished we could book at least one more night but had to leave early. The location was a little further out than we thought but worth it when we arrived as we were booked into a barn in the gardens and upstairs too. The room was like an attic room, very cosy and compact, perfect for a romantic night away. Read less
Likes:
Everything, even the way we had to go into another small barn and up the stairs into a roof room where a very varied breakfast was laid out.
Dislikes:
Only that when we went to breakfast, the room was absolutely freeeezing and we could even see our breath emmitting so this made us feel inclined to just grab and go which was a pity as it was so nice.

"A pleasant enough stay marred by poor facilities"
An overnight stay for my wife, 2 year old son and myself for a 60th birthday party nearby.
The place looks lovely, however, it rained during the night and rain water came down the chimney and onto the floor, soaking some of our baggage.
Not enough seating for all guests in the rather cramped loft space where the self serve breakfast was - NOT in a victorian conservatory at all! There were missing light bulbs, so preparing our own breakfast, in dark and cramped conditions was not good at all. Read less

Quaint room with nice decor.
Dislikes:
breakfast was in a cramped poorly lit loft NOT a 'victorian conservatory', with not enough tables & chairs for guests, some of whom had to stand.
Rain came down the chimney, soaking some of our bags

The precise age of Bonningtons is not known, however first records originate from the early 1600s so it is likely that the house pre-dates this by a few years indicating a very late 16th century or early 17th century property. It is now a Grade II listed building with a number of key listed features.

The estate itself also included Hatfield Forest. It was Jacob Houblon that created the current lake to be found in the centre of the forest, some time around 1740.

All guest rooms are ensuite and have tea/coffee facilties, TV, hairdryer and alarm clock.

A continental breakfast is served in the victorian conservatory and we can recommend lunch/evening meals at the George pub, across the road to Bonningtons.

We can offer free transfers to the airport within certain hours.

Places nearby to visit include The Toy Museum and Hatfield Forest.
