Local Area Information
Sandwich has a rich history spanning more than 2000 years and is perhaps most famous for being one of the Cinque Ports established in the 12th century to defend the South coast from invasion. Come and take a leisurely stroll through the narrow cobbled streets; discover a charming way of life in one of the town’s many taverns; or perhaps explore the ancient ruins of the Roman fort and amphitheatre stationed at Richborough. Sandwich is the most in tact Medieval town in the UK.
