"Lovely, friendly, pretty house, lovely, friendly hosts, perfectly located for Lincoln. I'll be back"
Our room was clean and welcoming, and the hosts couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. John offered us invaluable information about the easiest access to Lincoln and parking near the Cathedral, and also suggested a wonderful church which we visited and loved. As we were leaving for our first evening there, he asked if it was too cold in our room and did we need a heater? We did, and there it was, waiting for us when we got in that evening. Breakfasts were fab. Highly recommended! Read less

John, Judy and their son Graham offer you a warm welcome at the Black Swan, which stands on the main street of Marton at the crossroads of the A156 and the A1500, approximately 5 miles south of the historic market town of Gainsborough and 14 miles north west of the city of Lincoln, with its superb Cathedral and Castle.

The property is Grade II listed, and dates from the 18th Century as an old coaching inn, and was built on the site of a former building known as the “Black Swan Posting House”. There is an existing cellar from this property, and it is said that Oliver Cromwell rested here during the Battle of Gainsborough in 1643. The property has been refurbished to a high standard using many of the original materials. The main house and converted stable block provide very comfortable guest accommodation that attracts business travellers and tourists from near and far.

We have a total of nine rooms; the six rooms in the house are comprised of a four-poster, three double, one single and one twin rooms. The rooms in the “Stable Block” include a family room with a double and single bed, a twin room, and a self contained unit with a double and twin room with bathroom. All our rooms have en-suite facilities, tea/coffee tray, and Freeview TV. Wireless Internet is also freely available. There is parking for 10 vehicles in our off-road courtyard car park.

A splendid a la carte breakfast starts the day at the Black Swan, cooked fresh to order, using locally sourced sausages, bacon and free range organic eggs. We have a wide range of teas available including fruit and herbal choices, as well as fresh cafetiere coffee, all served in our comfortable dining room.
