Knaresborough,

North Yorkshire,

HG5 8AL,  United Kingdom
The Old Royal Oak is definitely worth a visit, located in Knaresborough's famous 'Market Square' the pub dates back to the 18th century and has a real 'oldy worldy' feel, it’s even got it's very own ‘Priest Hole’. Friendly staff and locals.Around the Market Square and high street are lots of little shops and galleries. Visit on a Wednesday you can enjoy the colourful market. Knaresborough castle is a must see with commanding views over the town and River Nidd. http://youtu.be/OuKS0PhhcF

The accommodation block is separate to the pub and our room (2) was a good size and clean. The pub is a traditional establishment serving well kept beers. The breakfast was excellent, served with good quality produce, perfectly cooked. All in all a good stay and an excellent base to explore the area from. Read less

Likes:
The rooms were very clean, with good facilities. Breakfast was excellent, being cooked to order.
Dislikes:
Although there is a car parking space for each room, the access is quite awkward and very tight if other spaces are full. There was a bit of noise outside on Sat night due to its central location.

Around the Market Square and high street are lots of little shops and galleries. If you visit on a Wednesday you can enjoy the colourful market. Knaresborough castle is a must see with commanding views over the town and River Nidd.

Food is served every lunch time and orders can be taken for dinner. We serve traditional home made, wholesome pub food. There is also an array of alternative restaurants within the area.

Major Road Connections - the A59 runs through Knaresborough. To the east it connects with the A1(M) - a major north-south route - and then goes on to York. West it passes through Harrogate before reaching Skipton, connecting with roads to the Yorkshire Dales, Lancashire and the Lake District.

Airport - the nearest international airport is Leeds-Bradford approximately 10 miles away, easily reached by road.

Trains - Knaresborough is well-served by trains, being on the main Leeds-York line. Trains also pass through Harrogate and services are approximately at half hour intervals.
