"Very warm welcome for two very tired walkers"
After a long harduous day walking the Cleveland Way we were made very welcome by our host at the very pretty Vicarage. Our bedroom was sumptuious and the bathroom superb. I really enjoyed the long soak with lashings of hot water. The breakfast was excellent and would meet all dietary needs. We were concerned about getting an evening meal as there is no pub in the village but Without us asking the host offered to take us to the local in the next village two miles away and pick us up 2 hrs later. Really felt that the host was picking up on our needs. Enjoyed the chat and felt welcome. They also offered to look after my rucksack for the day whilst I went to collect the car from Helmsley.

The Old Rectory dates from dated 1691 and was extended in the 1860's. The interior is relaxed and comfortable with a fresh fusion of styles and each room will make you feel that you aren't quite ready to leave. You will be surrounded by luxury fabrics, warmed by our open fires and tempted by the excellent local homemade breakfasts. Each bedroom has its own unique feel with two providing en-suite facilities whilst a third bedroom has its own private adjacent bathroom. All bathrooms are equipped with modern shower facilities. We also have a 16th century Hay Barn which is a self contained unit attached to the main house which provides private Lounge, Kitchen and bathroom areas along with a Wood Burning Stove. The Hay Barn has a minimum stay of 2 nights. Breakfast is not served to guests staying in self catering.

The North York Moors National Park extends over 563 square miles and would take a lifetime to explore in detail. Within the park there is a variety of scenery rarely encountered within a single region. The coastline is one of dramatic cliffs and small picturesque villages. The appeal of the moorland lies in its open aspect with wide expanses and panoramic views. The dales present a softer pastoral scenery with farmland and woodland surrounding the delightful villages, churches, abbeys and castles.

Kildale is an estate, not just a village. For the past 900 years it has been owned by only three families. Today all of the farms in Kildale and almost all of the houses are still owned by the estate and are let to people who live permanently in the dale.
