The friendliness and attentiveness of the farm family was a delight. It was fun to sit around a large farmhouse table with the other guests in the old fashioned B and B way.

"Lovely location on a working farm"
Travelling with my sister, we stayed one night at Manor Farm while on our way to Northumberland. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly owner who made us feel at home immediately. We had two rooms, both of which were located in the annex right next door, and attached, to the farmhouse. The breakfast room was a mere 6 steps away. The annex rooms have a shared patio with seats and a table available for guests. Despite being a working pig farm, there was no smell of pigs and almost no noise. Read less
Likes:
We liked the quiet location and our host. The full English breakfast was lovely; cooked to order and served fresh and hot. There was plenty of hot water available in the bathrooms.
Dislikes:
There is nothing that I did not like about the accommodation, the host or the location. The rooms are fine and the price about right, hence the 'average' score - this is not a 5* hotel, but a good B&B

The Moors National Park has been established for over 50 years and is an area of outstanding, unspoilt beauty. From Gillamoor there is easy access to the stunning coastline and seaside towns such as Bridlington, Scarborough and Whitby, all with their own character and history, including Captain Cook, smugglers and old whaling traditions.

Our farm is situated on the Main Street of Gillamoor and is well signposted. As we mentioned earlier this is a working farm with the house dating back to the 17th Century. We welcome families and their dogs and even provide a grazing/stabling service for horses; there are some excellent trails to explore either riding, cycling or walking around the village with spectacular views.

Closer to Gillamoor there is beautiful Farndale, awash with daffodils in the Spring; it is a sight that even matches Woodsworth's poem! Using Gillamoor as your base you can explore the windswept countryside along well maintained but sometimes narrow country lanes. There are many pubs in which to enjoy home made cooking and traditional beers; all accompanied by friendly service and value for money. Hutton Le Hole with the Folk Musem and Harrison collection of by gone days .

York is less than an hour away with its ancient buildings including York Minster dating back to the 12th century. The city boasts of its Roman and Viking history and there are many reminders and attractions of their occupation of the city.
