The breakfast was outstanding. The quality of the locally sourced items and those homemade were excellent. One of the best B&B breakfasts we have had in a very long time.

"excellent well kept bed and breakfast with very welcoming owners"
This was an overnight stay in York to celebrate my husbands birthday, since the moment we walked into the very clean and impressive reception hallway until we left the owners could not do enough to help and make us feel welcome. The room was clean and well decorated. Loved the little touches of the bathrobes, slippers, home-made biscuits & fresh milk for my tea. The following morning we had a leisurely freshly cooked breakfast, gorgeous fresh fruit, home-made breads & pastries. A delightful stay Read less

Built circa 1890 the B&B is a Victorian Terrace that has a history of offering accommodation and breakfast to guests since 1966 when Mrs. J.P. Morcome opened her home to travellers to the city as Morcome Guest House, we will continue in this tradition of offering homely hospitality in some of the finest bed and breakfast accommodation in York. Recently acquired & refurbished, part of our ethos is that we support our local partners sourcing all of our produce & services – wherever possible – from within a 20 mile radius of York which includes all of the trades and materials used in the refurbishment.

Just a short stroll along Marygate Lane to the Museum Gardens & you are in the heart of York, with York Minster to your left & the City Centre directly ahead of you. A huge variety of shops, restaurants, coffee shops, bars & attractions are at your feet. The River Ouse is a two minute stroll away and offers great walks, jogging & cycling routes right outside the front door.
In addition the countryside of North Yorkshire is on your doorstep, explore the Moors, Dales & Wolds or venture a little further to discover North Yorkshire's amazing coastline.

Breakfast is sourced locally with Bacon, Eggs, Sausages & Black Pudding all coming from The Farmers Cart just outside of York. Jams & Marmalades are from Bracken Hill Farm at Elvington. Our yoghurt are supplied by St. Helen's Farm at Seaton Ross, the breads are home-made & with flour from the Windmill in Acomb, as are the pancakes. Fruits, Vegetables & Fruit, Juices are sourced from Millies on Bishopthorpe Road in York. As with the rooms our Teas & Coffees are supplied by Taylor's of Harrogate.
We are also proud to be working with the Blueberry Academy – http://www.blueberryacademy.co.uk – who help us with our garden & planting. The Blueberry Academy team provide specialist support for adults with learning difficulties.
Environmental Statement
We are working towards becoming as eco-friendly as possible. Currently we recycle all glass, paper, cardboard, aluminium & plastic containers. We would encourage our guests to place any recyclables outside of the regular rubbish bins for us to place in our recycling containers. We also try to reduce our carbon footprint by sourcing all of our supplies & services from within a 20 mile radius of York. Future plans include rain water harvesting & solar panels to provide heat, hot water & electrical supply.
