"A great home base for Hadrians Wall"
Kellah Farm is an economical and lovely bed and breakfast on a working farm. The hosts were helpful and friendly. The rooms are neat but small, with showers en suite. The grounds are well-kept and charming- not cutesy, but authentic. The location is an easy 20 minute drive to the best parts of Hadrians Wall, which was the focus of our trip. We were gone most of the day, just getting back to sleep after dinner elsewhere and recharge for the next day's hiking. Read less
Likes:
The friendly and quiet atmosphere. The central location. The dark skies would be nice in non-summer months (gets dark really late!). The breakfast was excellent.
Dislikes:
Haltwhistle itself is small and limited, not too many eating options. But that is the tradeoff for being dead center on the best parts of Hadrians Wall.

"Relaxing week in lovely, peaceful location."
First visit to Northumberland and we used cottage as a base to explore surrounding areas, Hadrian's Wall etc. Absolutely beautiful part of the country - stunning landscapes and skies. Cottage is a couple of miles outside Haltwhistle, so car was definitely needed, but location is well signposted and easy to find. Cottage itself has everything needed for a comfortable stay - lovely walled garden area with resident sheep over the wall! Read less

Made very welcome, and although the cottage was right next door to owner's property, we had complete privacy and were left undisturbed to enjoy our holiday as we wished. Pool table in barn was a bonus!
Dislikes:
The only drawback was the limited wi-fi access - unavoidable due to the location and a bonus for those of us who are glad to get away from it all - but if you have teenagers, they will moan about it!
