"Great place!"
We stayed for 3 nights while we explored the area by car. The Reading Rooms was a great base to get up to Hadrian's Wall and the surrounding areas. The rooms were comfortable and quiet. (With the windows closed there is virtually no noise from outside.) Great breakfasts and Brian was friendly and very helpful with lots of great advice about things to do. We would definitely stay here again. Read less

"homely friendliness"
I think this B&B is close to the original concept of bed and breakfast. There was a certain homely feel to it, especially during breakfast. The owner is very friendly and chatty and ready to give advice on what there is to do in the area. The breakfast was as english as it can get, but done really well. Our room was a family room so very spacious, with a good bathroom. Read less

We really liked the owner. He was very friendly and we enjoyed his advice and his stories.
Dislikes:
The only downside was that the room was on the ground floor at the front near the street, which gave a bit of noise.
