"Great place!"
We stayed for 3 nights while we explored the area by car. The Reading Rooms was a great base to get up to Hadrian's Wall and the surrounding areas. The rooms were comfortable and quiet. (With the windows closed there is virtually no noise from outside.) Great breakfasts and Brian was friendly and very helpful with lots of great advice about things to do. We would definitely stay here again. Read less

"homely friendliness"
I think this B&B is close to the original concept of bed and breakfast. There was a certain homely feel to it, especially during breakfast. The owner is very friendly and chatty and ready to give advice on what there is to do in the area. The breakfast was as english as it can get, but done really well. Our room was a family room so very spacious, with a good bathroom. Read less

We really liked the owner. He was very friendly and we enjoyed his advice and his stories.
Dislikes:
The only downside was that the room was on the ground floor at the front near the street, which gave a bit of noise.

"Delightful B&B in striking distance of many roman sites"
We spent three excellent nights at The Reading Rooms. Brian looked after us very well, even offering the larger two-singles room, which happened to be available, in spite of us booking the slightly smaller twin room. Lovely outlook over the River Tyne; we could come and go as we wished. Breakfast was very flexible for time and content – our host was happy to adjust to our needs in the morning. Very good quality food. Read less

"Superb location and wonderful owners"
Beautifully positioned at the heart of Roman Britain's northern border, The Reading Rooms overlooks the spectacular waters at Haydon Bridge. The village boasts two pubs, an Indian takeaway, Fish and Chip shop and a Co-op open till late. The direct road from the B&B is 5 miles to Hadrian's wall and a variety of Roman forts, villas, settlements and museums. The owner is helpful, friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable of the area - he takes a pride in his village and his B&B. Read less

"Perfection!"
We were met by the owner Brian who is very friendly and made us feel very welcome. He offered us a choice of rooms and we chose the one on the ground floor which was very spacious. It has a large en suite with all the usual facilities. There were tea and coffee making facilities and we really appreciated the bottles of spring water. The breakfast was great with lots of choices, we had a full English which was perfectly cooked. Read less
