It is surprising that once Francesco has opened the door and welcomed you into The Glove
House you enter a peaceful oasis hidden from the traffic on this busy road.
Our room on the top floor was elegantly styled with fine quality furniture and soft furnishings. The over sized bed was supremely comfortable and beautifully dressed.
We were just missing bath slippers and call us old fashioned a tablet of soap for the bath . (Bathroom amenities are top quality & generous & include a body wash. Read less
Likes:
We enjoyed the comfort & style of our room and the tranquil atmosphere of the house. We slept very well.
It was also convenient to be able to get the bus right outside the accommodation into Oxford.
Dislikes:
Italian style coffee was only served by the Nespresso machine in our room. We have been grinding our coffee beans for 25 years & are spoilt.
The filter coffee served is of good quality however.

Attention to detail was second to none. Beautiful surroundings. Breakfast choice was marvellous. Host and hostess are charming.
Dislikes:
We thought the price was excessive. We appreciate that Woodstock is a prime location and accommodation is limited but still thought it overpriced.

The Glove House bed and breakfast is a beautiful Georgian townhouse located in the centre of Woodstock, on the edge of the Cotswolds and 7 miles from Oxford. The Glove House is about 400 years old and was used as a glove workshop in the 1870's, when it was lived in by the Daggett family with their 5 children and servants. Christopher Daggett was one of Woodstock’s largest glove manufacturers at the time and according to local history records, Benjamin Disraeli visited the glove workshop in 1873, when we may suppose that he was presented with a pair of gloves that had been made in the house!

These days there is little sign of the glove-making that once went on here, but the house has a wonderful sense of history and one senses that it has many stories to tell, with its oak paneled reception hall with open fire place to the spacious rooms, and cellar with secret passageway and mullioned windows.
