We stayed in the Barn Retreat which is a small separate building from the main house and has a small lounge area as well as a bedroom and bathroom, breakfast was served in the main house.
The hosts (Amanda and Tony) were very friendly and welcoming without intruding. Breakfast was fantastic, the sausages in particular!
It's a good base for exploring the Costwolds and Oxford and only a stones throw (driving) from Blenheim Palace which we thought was magnificent; well worht a visit. Read less

Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming, and the location was excellent. We would be pleased to return for a leisure break in the future.
Dislikes:
The room was a little small with minimal wardrobe space, but adequate for a short stay.
Response from Kings Head House:
We are delighted you enjoyed your stay in our home despite the sad circumstances of your visit. In our descriptions of rooms we do list the room you were in as a small double and when you made your reservation it was the only room available. Perhaps should you return at some time in the future you might like to consider our other room in the house which is almost double the size of the one you were in , but anyway thank you for taking the time to send in your comments.

"Bed, Bath & Beyond Compare"
What a great choice for staying in the Cotswolds. From the moment we walked through the door at King's Head House we felt like royalty. Better yet, part of the family. Our hosts, Amanda and Tony could not have been more helpful and friendly. They anticipated our needs and offered us accommodations fit for a King. Our stay was memorable and we only wish we had booked for a longer stay. Read less

The hosts could give lessons to would-be B&B owners on how to treat visiting guests. And their accommodations are far above what we had expected. Our suite was spacious, comfortable and first class.
Response from Kings Head House:
We are delighted that you were happy with your choice of accommodation whilst in Oxfordshire and thank you for your very kind comments . I hope you enjoy the remainder of your holiday and have a safe journey home.

Kings Head House is a grade 2 listed stone building located in the centre of the beautiful conservation village of Wootton. Tucked away from the main thoroughfare and nestling in a backwater, the house abounds in peace and tranquillity yet is only 2 miles from Woodstock, home of Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and nearby Bladon where he is buried. The whole area is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Our house, a former village inn, has been extensively renovated and all services have been renewed and updated. Previously hidden oak beams have been exposed and the stairwell now has light pouring down from above and a very spacious atmosphere has been created. The open tread staircase rising through the centre of the building leads onto a bridge connecting the old with the new.
Located in a corner of the walled garden is our Barn Retreat which offers the option of a double room with four poster bed, bathroom with corner bath and a private lounge with garden access.
In the house we have two rooms; an ensuite double room with shower bathroom and the other room can be arranged as either twin bedded or super kingsize double. This is a very large room and the bathroom has both a bath and over bath shower.
Our rooms all have television, wifi, tea and coffee facilities and hairdryer . All bathrooms have wash hand basin, wc, heated towel rail and either bath, shower or both.
Toast made from homemade bread and preserves accompany individually freshly cooked breakfast served in our light and airy east facing dining room which has doors which open out onto a terrace in the walled garden, so if the sun is out you are guaranteed a bright start to your day.
Located within walking distance of Woodstock and with quick easy access to Oxford, Stratford upon Avon and Warwick and being at the gateway to the Cotswolds, surrounded by beautiful countryside we are an ideal base for business, pleasure, touring, walking and cycling.
Environmental Statement
For the house we now have a state of the art wood pellet boiler which uses pellets manufactured from virgin waste timber. Solar panels heat our water which is topped up by the boiler as and when required. The Barn Retreat is heated independently. We grow our own soft fruit and vegetables and buy locally grown produce where necessary. The free range eggs for breakfast are purchased from a local farm and sometimes come straight from the henhouse! We always recycle as much of our waste as possible.
