"Possibly the best ever overnight stay i have ever had"
On arrival i was greeted by Carol and Nigel, who passionately love their 'work at the castle of comfort. I felt immediatly at ease and was shown to my room....and what a room, modern, comfortable, immaculately clean, a stunning view, warm and cosy, I defy anyone to wish for better! The bar / lounge area was extremely comfortable also, made all the merrier with the presence of Nigel and tantalising conversation about the history of the house. Bed and sleep was fantastic, so comfortable and quiet. Read less

Everything about the stay i liked!! The breakfast was wonderful, like something off a cooking programme, (I think Carol is a secret high class chef!). After breakfast I sat in the garden, so serene!!
Dislikes:
The only thing that i did not like about the stay was the fact that i had to leave the next morning!!

"Will definitely return"
Stayed for Sat and Sun night whilst visiting friends in Watchet. I liked the look of the hotel and the reviews that it had received on the internet, but when I booked there was only one room left that was vacant. We booked into the hotel on Saturday afternoon, and were put into Room 9 which is situated next to the car park and main A39 road to Minehead. The Room was spacious and well furnished, and was exceptionally clean. and fresh. The Toilet and shower room were also large and very clean. Read less

The owners were very friendly, the restaurant, bar, and gardens were also very well kept. The hotel is convenient to both Bridgewater, the North Devon resorts, and Exmoor.

Only there for the one night (attending an interview the next day). After a 300 mile journey the welcome was greatly appreciated, as were the ham and pickle sandwiches. I will definitely stay again.

The Castle of Comfort Country House and Restaurant is owned and managed by Carol and Nigel Venner. It is situated on the slopes of the Quantock Hills, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near Bridgwater in Somerset. One of the first AONB in the United Kingdom, the Quantock Hills are part of Greater Exmoor and therefore conveniently situated for those who wish to explore the Exmoor National Park, a landscape of extraordinary natural beauty and dramatic coastal scenery in West Somerset and North Devon. It is a marvellous area for walking, riding, fishing or simply relaxing and exploring.

Nearby Minehead is a popular seaside resort and boasts a beautiful sandy beach extending the full length of Minehad Bay including Dunster Beach and Blue Anchor Bay. The Castle of Comfort was once described as a stone inn at the foot of the Quantock Hills where it is rumored that pirates off the English coast used to dispose of their loot.

This former coaching inn is now a small country house providing 5 star guest accommodation and is an idyllic resting place for both individuals and families on business or pleasure. We are conveniently situated for those who wish to explore the Exmoor National Park, a landscape of extraordinary natural beauty and dramatic coastal scenery.
