Likes:
Chris was an excellent host, insisting on taking our cases to and from our car parked in an adjacent street, providing advice on dinner possibilities in Ilminster and generally showing interest in us.
Dislikes:
No direct control of room heating - problem in winter?
No off-street parking - common problem.
TV was situated so as to be only able to be viewed in bed but this too far away for remote to work.

"Comfortable and friendly stay in pretty market town"
We stayed for 1 night on 2-day cycle tour of south Somerset. Safe bike storage, a good shower, comfortable bed, quiet room and healthy substantial breakfast were all up to our expectations. We were given good advice on a range of places to eat in Ilminster. Timing of breakfast was flexible and there was a good range of cereal, fruit, yogurt, juice and cooked items. Read less
Likes:
The guest house is run by a very friendly couple who made us a pot of tea when we arrived tired and hungry after cycling 50 miles. The house is lovely and we had a large bright room with a good view.
Dislikes:
No, everything was good or excellent; no downside.

We offer high quality en-suite B & B Accommodation in relaxed and luxurious surroundings. Woodleigh Bed and Breakfast is a beautiful Victorian house built in 1895 that has been imaginatively refurbished to a high standard whilst retaining its original charm. Our garden is open to all visitors to enjoy.

Ilminster is ideally situated close to many National Trust properties and areas of natural beauty. These include Barrington Court, Montacute House, Forde Abbey and the Blackdown Hills. We are also only 18 miles from the Jurassic coast.

Ilminster takes its name from the River Ile and the Minster church dating from 1450. The town grew up around the church and some of the oldest buildings are close to the churchyard including the grammar school founded in 1549. In Victorian times the town was an important staging post for travellers with east-west and north-south routes converging there. Market Square has a colonnaded market cross rebuilt in 1813 and is surrounded by handsome buildings. Ilminster is an attractive and peaceful town with a good variety of shops, a theatre and enchanting street names like Strawberry Bank.
