Local Area Information
The name Minehead is Celtic and it’s origin is similar to the Welsh ‘mynydd’ meaning mountain, an old reference to North Hill in whose lee the town stands. Picturesque gardens, a good variety of restaurants, pubs, entertainment and sports facilities makes it the ideal place for all holidaymakers. One attraction not to be missed is the West Somerset Railway; Britains longest and most lovingly restored heritage railway travelling to Bishops Lydeard near Taunton.
