"Idyllic Stay"
I arrived very late after my sat nav failed, I was lost but phoned the hotel and a lovely lady patiently directed me via mobile staying on the line until I got there . I wasgreeted by Donal ,who made me feel so welcome and even made me a cup of tea. The room was stylish, contemporary and extremely comfortable. I slept so well and had an excellent breakfast in the morning. I then made time for a walk around the grounds, which were stunning!! I found my stay quite exceptional in every way. Read less

The fat pigeon is a beautiful venue set in the heart of the country. The rooms are contemporary and comfortable. My only comment for improvement would be that there was no tea/coffee making facilities when it said there were. Also , I’m gluten free and there was no provision of bread for breakfast. I had a yoghurt and fruit instead but a slice of toast would have been great.
The staff were very pleasant too. Read less

"Lacking in heating, no wifi and very poor phone signal."
I have stayed in the Fat Pigeon a number of times this winter, unfortunately the quality of the rooms varies dramatically. The ones that have been fully upgraded are excellent, those that have not tend to look okay but are basic and the bathrooms can be cold, with the last one not having any heating which is not pleasant in the middle of January. Typically the breakfasts are good. If they could upgrade the remaining rooms to the same standard then it would be a great improvement. Read less

Typically the breakfasts are good and the upgraded rooms are good.
Dislikes:
No heating in bathroom, very little heating in bedroom, no one in reception to deal with any issues, no kettle in room, no soap or shampoo in room, no wifi, very poor phone signal.

The Fat Pigeon is a traditional yet stylish B&B located in the heart of the West Country offering a home from home feeling at a very reasonable price.

We are 10 minutes away from the county town of Yeovil and just over 2 hours from London by train (Waterloo to Yeovil Junction) or by road using the nearby A303.

Our 29 bedrooms are all unique, beautifully renovated and elegantly decorated in keeping with the charm and quirkiness of the Jacobean Farmhouse and Tudor Main House. All rooms offer en suite bathrooms, TV & WiFi.

You will be offered a bright and friendly welcome at reception and our facilities will be explained to you. The Coop is where our self service complimentary breakfast is available from 7-9.30 am, we offer a a 24 hour tea and coffee facility.

The Lounge features an Inglenook fireplace lit on cold or grey days, where you can sit in comfort and look through local tourist information and meet our farmhouse pets Rudi the cat and Dali the dog.

We have a lovely dinning room offering evening meals and drinks which overlooks our busy bird food tables, where we have Woodpeckers, a Robin, a variety of Tits and Chaffinches and even the odd cheeky Squirrel!

Check-in is strictly from 4pm until 8pm. As we are a working farm it is not possible to check guests in after 8pm although we are happy to leave a key at reception for you.
