Everything. Breakfast in the room (no dining room here - this is NOT a "gastric-pub!") was very pleasant. Location is good for local "village" of Byker and Ouseburn and for links into Newcastle cit

"Quirky, cosy and spot on"
We ALWAYS stay at The Cumby when we go to a gig in Newcastle, and it is part of the whole experience for us - not just somewhere soulless to lay your head after a night out. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into the place - it feels personal and relaxed, but everything you need is there, including the great real ale pub downstairs. Personally, I love going to sleep to the sound of live music down below, but this doesn't go on too late, so even if it's not your thing it shouldn't matter. Read less
Likes:
The atmosphere, cosiness of the room (which is not to say it's small - all the rooms are airy and big), the comfort of the bed and - always - the breakfast delivered to our door at a time to suit us

It was comfortable and convenient.
Although the pub is a music venue we were surprised that this was not obvious from the room, we heard nothing from downstairs.
Dislikes:
The rooms can be a bit warm, but ours had a fan so that helped, also the stairs to the rooms are a little steep, but we were aware of that before we booked so there was no problem.

The Cumberland Arms Bed and Breakfast sits above a traditional pub; offering customers seven Real Ale hand pulls rotating exceptional beer from breweries spanning the British Isles and a wide variety of Real Cider. As one of Newcastle's longest-standing music venues you can always satisfy your particular music taste or try something new with a gig upstairs or one of the regular folk sessions in the back bar, some with a heritage going back 20 years.

Nestled in the side of the Ouseburn Valley which has been recently regenerated and has become one of the most vibrant areas in the city. The Valley is popular with musicians, artists and the cultural industries but has not forgotten its past with the Victorian Tunnel, Toffee Factory and redeveloped Ouseburn Farm.
The Cumberland Arms is perfectly placed to visit Newcastle and the sights; within walking distance of the Quayside and City centre, easy distance to the Metro Centre and a short Metro ride to the Coast.

The Bed and Breakfast is a wonderful gem hiding behind the side door. Opened in May 2009, it has four en-suite rooms with south-facing views over the Ouseburn, super king size beds, a feel of luxury and a relaxed atmosphere. It is the perfect place to get away from it all.
