Welcomed into my room despite arriving earlier due to difficulties with travelling. I was very grateful given the weather!
Dislikes:
No. Tall people may prefer to be lower down in the building perhaps due to low beams etc.

"Beautiful House in tranquil village setting"
The quaint old building was easy to find, there was plenty of parking at the front on the road or in the car park to the rear. Our room had everything we needed, nicely decorated and immaculately clean. The bathroom was very modern and well appointed (which is a feat considering the size and beams!) We went to the lovely nearby pub for dinner. Breakfast was exceptional with a great choice of fresh fruit and fantastically cooked local produce. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Read less

The surrounding countryside is a mixture of woodland and farmland, with the Ashby Canal and Shackerstone Steam Railway nearby. Congerstone is on the National Cycle Network and there are plenty of lovely walks in the vicinity, including the Ivanhoe Trail, canal pathways and through the woods to the temple ruins where Handel is reputed to have written The Messiah. Tourist attractions, places of interest and major business venues are within easy reach.

Parts of Old Ivy House date back to the 13th century and it was a working farm until very recently. Oak beams abound-original wooden floors, log fires, brass beds and a plethora of antique furniture all contribute to an atmospheric and perfect environment for your stay.

We have four double bedrooms which are all en-suite and a twin bedded room with private bathroom. The rooms are named after the local villages; Market Bosworth, Shackerstone, Cadeby, Kirkby Mallory and Twycross. One of our bedrooms is furnished with a super king sized bed and has a luxury bathroom with a dressing area. For that special occasion or just as a treat, or even as a family room, it will be a memorable stay. Just a short walk away is the Horse and Jockey, our local pub, which has an excellent and highly recommended restaurant.

All rooms are equipped with flat screen televisions which are Freeview enabled giving access to a wide range of channels, as well as digital radio services. We have Wi-Fi throughout the house. Our rooms also have a DVD player. A wide range of DVD's can be borrowed on request. Additionally in your room you will find a hair dryer and a radio alarm clock which can charge and play your iPod. Each room is also equipped with a kettle and complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate sachets. Milk for drinks is provided fresh each day in a vacuum flask, which we are happy to refill on request.

We provide a Full English Breakfast or Continental Breakfast, but if there is something special you would like, then just ask.
