We stayed at the Lenton self catering cottage, which is the larger of the two. (wheeler smaller)it was quaint and adequate to our needs also disabled friendly up to a point: The Rectory is indeed a great base to stay with, Chippenham, Swindon, Bath, Bristol, a short drive away. We look forward to next year, whereby we'll stay there again: Read less
Likes:
Missy their black labrador along with her companion, a Jack Russell, also two horses, all whom warmly greeted us each day, with tail wags and neighs. This setting was most excellent for us all.
Dislikes:
The walk in wet room shower requires a disabled stool/chair, along with handles, also we were unable to push a wheelchair around the excellently kept gardens, or from our vehicle to the accommodation.
Response from The Old Rectory B&B & Rectory Cottages:
Thanks for all your lovely comments and glad you had a good holiday. Yes that was some storm with many folks in our local town flooded out. Yes I heard the story of the egg woman it was no yoke!

It's perfectly positioned to enjoy Lacock. Elaine is very nice and in the grounds we kept chancing on her pets - not in the house. We came across hens, cat, dogs and horse living in fine style!
Dislikes:
I would have loved softer pillows.
Response from The Old Rectory B&B & Rectory Cottages:
Thanks for letting me know about the shower head Elizabeth. Glad you had a good visit.

Details of B&B and Self Catering Cottages - Welcome to The Old Rectory and experience an elegance of a bygone era at this imposing Grade II listed house, situated two minutes stroll from the beautiful and famous village of Lacock. They say "location, location, location" ... we've got it! Built in 1866, The Old Rectory is a superb example of Victorian gothic architecture.

Now a delightful family home set in its own grounds with croquet lawn and gardens, it offers a real taste of English country life. Beyond the stables are fields and footpaths leading to the medieval village of Lacock. In the drawing room at the Rectory, play the Broadwood piano or just relax with views that overlook front garden, drive and orchard. The house boasts many original features such as mullioned windows, creeper-clad walls, stained glass windows and an ecclesiastical bell! A guardian angel is at the pinnacle of the house next to our Latin inscription - "He who listens, learns most".

There's ample private and safe car and bicycle parking.

Lacock is an oasis in Wiltshire, with its 17th century houses and Lacock Abbey, a gem of the National Trust dating back to the 13th century. We are blessed with excellent, pubs, restaurants and tea rooms a church and small shops. Close by is Castle Combe and the world heritage city of Bath and Salisbury and Oxford.

We also have self-catered accommodation: The Rectory Cottages are two newly restored self-catering holiday cottages within walking distance of the National Trust village of Lacock.

Formally old stables, the red bricked cottages are interlinked and have two bedrooms each, vaulted ceilings, modern interiors and are situated in the grounds of a beautiful victorian rectory. Each cottage has its own garden and views over fields, the rectory gardens and the orchard.
