Friendly, unobtrusive owners. Antique four-poster, luxurious bedlinen and characterful, creaky floorboards. Chocolates and roses provided a home from home feel and breakfast was tasty and plentiful.
Dislikes:
We tried to think of something. Sadly,we failed!

"Wish I Could Have Stayed Longer!"
We wanted to get away for a couple of days and find somewhere small, local and friendly and that's exactly what we got. After a day exploring Salisbury we were really pleased to find the Newton Farmhouse was clean, warm and welcoming. The room was fantastically equipped, beautifully decorated and very spacious. We had dinner at a local pub suggested by the owners and went for a walk the next day at another suggested location - both were lovely. We were just upset we only stayed one night! Read less

The breakfast was generous and delicious and the hosts were willing to accommodate my vegetarianism. The room and en-suite was lovely and the owners were friendly without being intrusive.
Dislikes:
The only slight negative was the location. A car is essential to get there and get anywhere else. It is a little further out of the city centre than I would have liked personally.

Newton Farmhouse is situated 6 miles from the Cathedral city of Salisbury (which boasts the highest spire in England, an original copy of the Magna Carta and the oldest known working clock). The ancient monument of Stonehenge is close by and we are on the edge of New Forest, where wild ponies and deer can be seen roaming freely.
We are conveniently located for visits to the historic Cathedral city of Winchester and the maritime city of Portsmouth with Lord Nelson's flagship 'HMS Victory' and HMS Warrior, the first ever iron clad warship. There are also numerous maritime museums including the 'Mary Rose' museum, where Henry VIII's flagship is now housed together with 1,200 artifacts which were found following the recovery of the vessel in 1982 from the sea bed where she lay undisturbed since 1545. The area is renowned for the many National Trust properties and gardens which are open to visitors. Other nearby attractions include Heal and Exbury gardens, Broadlands, Avebury, Longleat, Poultons Park, the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, Wilton House and many, many more, plus excellent fishing, walking, horse riding and golf.
A full cooked English breakfast is served between 8 and 9 am Monday-Saturday and 9-10 on Sundays. A selection of freshly prepared fruit and yoghurt together with danish pastries, cereals and juices.
