"Quiet and Comfortable"
Set in the very quiet village of Wooton Rivers in deepest rural Wiltshire, this guest house attached to the village pub is one not to be missed. You will need a car to travel about, but my stay to catch up with an old friend was not about exploring the county, I got enough of that travelling from Westbury to pewsey by taxi after missing my connection due to a late running train. John and Rosie run a very efficient ship. The room I stayed in was basic but very clean as was the bathroom facility. Read less

The friendly staff are always on hand if you require anything but are not intrusive. They are a selection of real ales too. The breakfast was excellent too. There was also a roaring trade on meals.

Situated at the centre of the picturesque thatched village of Wootton Rivers. Wootton Rivers is located on the famous Kennet and Avon canal, near the historical market town of Marlborough.

Although The Royal Oak is a favourite with tourists visiting Wiltshire, it is still very much a local's pub and sports a games room with pub favourites pool and darts, Board games can also be found at the bar.

The Royal Oak was proud to be registered as a venue to conduct civil weddings in 1997 and have seen many people united into wedlock.

The Royal Oak dates back to the 16th century when it was a coaching inn, since then the pub has been used as a farriers yard and the village bakery. The interior of the building reflects its heritage with charm, sporting low, oak beamed ceilings and wide open log fires that are kept alight during the winter months.

Available for private functions is The Royal Oak's restaurant, which can seat up to sixty with comfort. There is also a marquee site for up to 300 people for larger parties, The Royal Oak is more than happy to cater for outside functions too.
