"Lovely staff and food. Accommodation found wanting."
One overnight staying in a double room with shared bathroom. Breakfast included. Also had dinner. Lovely food. Friendly staff. We expected and thought we'd paid for an en-suite room. The shower was probably the worst I've ever experienced - old style "warm it up as you go" - was either 30 seconds of scalding hot water or cold water for 30 seconds. Impossible. A very small room with not even a hook to hang your towel on the back of the door. Very bouncy bed. But clean and lovely views. Read less
Likes:
Very friendly staff and cosy pub area. Gorgeous village. Great food for dinner and breakfast. I would recommend the pub for food and friendliness. Don't stay for the accommodation.
Dislikes:
Terrible shower - suggest a simple instruction list of how it works - if it does. No water pressure. Didn't expect a shared bathroom. Very tiny room - just enough room for the bed.

excellent food and drinks, very friendly staff.
Dislikes:
The room was very cramped and not really big enough for a double bed. Inadequate storage, we had to leave some of our clothes in the boot of the car! Room not serviced on one day.

Situated at the centre of the picturesque thatched village of Wootton Rivers. Wootton Rivers is located on the famous Kennet and Avon canal, near the historical market town of Marlborough.

Although The Royal Oak is a favourite with tourists visiting Wiltshire, it is still very much a local's pub and sports a games room with pub favourites pool and darts, Board games can also be found at the bar.

The Royal Oak was proud to be registered as a venue to conduct civil weddings in 1997 and have seen many people united into wedlock.

The Royal Oak dates back to the 16th century when it was a coaching inn, since then the pub has been used as a farriers yard and the village bakery. The interior of the building reflects its heritage with charm, sporting low, oak beamed ceilings and wide open log fires that are kept alight during the winter months.

Available for private functions is The Royal Oak's restaurant, which can seat up to sixty with comfort. There is also a marquee site for up to 300 people for larger parties, The Royal Oak is more than happy to cater for outside functions too.
