"A real gem"
A wonderful B&B with quality fittings and furnishings (the best beds!!)plus the bonus of being able to use the house kitchen (a brilliant plus with two young children). Located in the beautiful Wellswood yet within easy reach of town. Nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful host who seemed really keen to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Very highly recommended. Read less

Unable to open windows so a fan in the room during hot weather would be good.

A newly renovated early Victorian house, ten minutes walk away from the town center. Rutland Lodge is conveniently located on the Babbacombe Road, directly up from the harbourside and Marina, with off road parking.

The house has been renovated to provide all modern comforts whilst retaining the character of the 1850s building, with beautiful decorative features. There are 5 en-suite bedrooms with a mixture of showers and roll top baths. The bedroom on the ground floor is a twin room with a double bed sofa in - suitable for one adult or two children.

The bedrooms are comfortably furnished, all with marble clad en-suite bathrooms/shower rooms. The beds are Rest Assured pocket sprung with memory foam. The TV’s are Panasonic 37” plasma with separate CD/DVD/ players. There is a conservatory off the kitchen with a vine growing through, furnished with tables to sit twelve. An additional dinning room is in the house. Flooring is solid oak to minimize allergies – with lots of sound insulation.

An extensive cold buffet breakfast is served in the conservatory, consisting of quality cereals, freshly made bread & pastries, sliced brown bread, fruit, cheese & cooked meats, juices, tea and coffee.

Five minutes walk away are Wellswood’s delightful cafes, delis, bars and restaurants. Further down the hill is Meadfoot Beach with parking and café overlooking the sea.
