"Lovely weekend at the George"
We arrived to be informed that the George was under new management but that our booking terms would remain the same. A little hic-cup about our dog, but my concern was soon alleviated and, from there, we had a wonderful time. The food and service was amazing, nothing was too much trouble. Hannah was especially brilliant and we felt extremely well-looked after. We were very comfortable in our room, made welcome by locals in the bar, and we were able to relax in the garden area. Excellent! Read less

A country coaching inn with excellent service, friendly staff, amazing food at reasonable prices and a good selection of craft beers and gins! Far preferable to us than a 'plastic' corporate chain.
Dislikes:
New management seem to be making changes and upgrading areas - small issue with cleanliness of shelving in our bathroom, everything else clean. Eventually secondary glazing might help with the 'bells'

Staff were very helpful and friendly. Really liked the period nature of the pub. The food was delicious, we had lunch, dinner and breakfast and all were fantastic.
Dislikes:
Unfortunately the boiler stopped working so no hot water but the staff were understanding and did offer a full refund if we chose to stay elsewhere and a discount if we stayed.
Response from The George Inn:
Hello there Kimberley,

Thank you so much for taking the time to review your stay - we are delighted that you were happy with everything. We also, as a team, very much appreciate your understanding regarding the boiler! I'm pleased to say it is now fixed so if you find yourselves round our way again, hot showers will be in abundance.

Have a lovely weekend and thank you again.

The Bar at the George is traditionally English and frequented by locals and visitors. It's a place where farmers meet and walkers recover. You will meet all types here. There is a regular selection of ales from the local Hook Norton Brewery, an inglenook fireplace, stone mullion windows and some historic panels. One of the rooms dates before 1350 when the stonemasons who built the church were housed at the inn. Outside we have a large garden with seating, covered smoking area, small children's play area and a car park. Dogs and children are welcome. We have a childrens policy whereon we request no children sit at the actual bar and that they vacate the bar area completely on Friday and Saturday evenings before 8pm. Children are welcome to be in the restaurant past this time if dining with adults.
