"A restful, comfortable and friendly stopover on long journeys"
This was our second visit, and we’ve already booked again later in the year. This nicely appointed and old fashioned small hotel is very convenient to the M6 but far enough away to be peacefully quiet. Pets are welcome in the rooms and the bar, and there is a pleasant right of way leading from the car park, ideal for dog walks. Read less
Likes:
Staff made us feel very welcome, and service was quick. The log fire burning in the bar, and the choice of real ale on tap, made for an oasis after our long journey on very busy motorways.
Dislikes:
The shower mixer was malfunctioning, it was difficult to get warm water.

"Turn the music off/down"
Last minute booking.Walking across car park to check in, the biggest rat imaginable ran right across our paths to the bin area. Next struck by all the speakers, inside and out, blasting out ' music'. Evening meal fabulous- quality of food and service. Expecting a wonderful breakfast but rather underwhelmed. Bizarrely, we were locked out of the breakfast area and along with other guests , had to hammer on the door to be let in and then by a dishevelled person who offered no apology, explanation. Vegan menu in restaurant. Service and ambiance in restaurant.
Dislikes:
Could not find a quiet spot anywhere away from the music. It pervaded the bar, restaurant and terrace, even in our bathroom.
