The Country House is situated within the Northumberland National Park. It offers comfortable accommodation and excellent home cooking at a very reasonable price for visitors, walkers and cyclists as well as providing guests with a perfect hideaway for a relaxing break surrounded by magnificent views, sheltered gardens and wildlife. Walking, hiking, mountain biking, archery, birds of prey and fishing are some of the many activities that are connected to the hotel. Taking advantage of the premier dark sky location, guests can book a session with various telescopes to view the wonders of the universe under expert instruction.

Under brand new management since June 2012 and extensively refurbished, the large 13th Century attractive stone built hall creates an extremely comfortable well appointed country house, retaining many original architectural features. There is no mobile phone signal in the area, but free wi-fi is available at the hotel and there is a payphone. Some weekends there is musical entertainment in the bar.
