The location of the hotel was great, far enough away from the busy ares, but just a short drive to the more popular sights. The village pub is only a short walk with good food and friendly staff.

"Did the job and at value for money"
We stayed in the "Summer Room" which is located (adjoined) and accessed outside of the main building. The room was damp with damp patches around the room. We didn't mention it when leaving as there were other people present and didn't want to embarrass the owners. It really needs attention. For 2 nights just sleeping - we could live with it. We wouldn't want to stay in this room when it's cold. Read less

The friendliness of all the staff, Superb breakfast and it is really nice to sit in the lounge after a day travelling with the bar open.
Dislikes:
Apart from the damp room - there was nothing else wrong.
Response from St. Benets Abbey:
Dear Both, Many thanks for your comments and consideration. We are gradually refurbishing each room and resolving issues and have plans to improve this room over the winter. We do not offer this room in the late autumn and winter as you have correctly identified that it would be too cold - hence the name of "Summer Room"! We hope to see you again in the future.

Built in 1411 St. Benets Abbey is a unique building standing right at the heart of Cornwall. St Benets is at the half-way point of the Saints Way, a medieval route taken by pilgrims on their way from Ireland to France which crosses from Padstow to Fowey making it an excellent two-day walk with a comfortable over-night stop at the abbey. St. Benet's Abbey is a family run business.

Although offering all modern comforts the building retains the charm and character of its historical past. The seven bedrooms are well furnished in an individual style, with ensuites, colour TVs, central heating, hair dryers and tea/coffee making facilities. The abbey has ample offroad parking. The location of St Benets Abbey makes it an ideal base for the tourist, being ½ a mile from the A30, just outside Bodmin and easy to find.

In the village you will find a pretty pub, a Norman church, post office and village shop. Padstow, Tintagel (the legendary birthplace of King Arthur) Port Issac & Boscastle on the North coast and Fowey, St Austell (with the port of Charlestown), Looe, Polperro & Mevagissey to the south are excellent days out. We offer a choice of full English, vegetarian or continental breakfast. Throughout the year we host a variety of special events such as murder mystery evenings and parties.
