We booked via the hotel website the day before, for a one night stay, having checked the reviews. We were not disappointed. The room was very spacious and clean, and the dining room was a pleasant place for breakfast, overlooking the terrace & garden. The only disappointment, was the fact that the weather was warm & sunny, and we didn't have our swimming gear, to make use of the pool! Next time maybe. We would ceratinly recommend the Epchris Hotel. Read less

Attentive hosts, a great room with a reasonably priced mini bar, a proper power shower and all topped off with a scrummy fresh cooked breakfast each day. Superb!

Location was good as we were central to places we wanted to visit - from Minehead in east to Bideford in the west. The hotel was peaceful although we weren't there in high season, breakfasts lovely!

King size en suite bedroom was very comfortably and tastefully furnished in a well maintained period house with plenty of character. Situated in a quiet location with views over Ilfracombe.

The size of the room was very unexpected given the price we paid for it (much larger) and we had a lovely view.
Dislikes:
The owners are unavailble in the early afternoon. Although we were able to check in early we did worry about having to be there by a certain time (which we were only told of on the day of arrival).
Response from Epchris House:
Thank you. Check in is at 3 pm and clearly stated. At 3pm we are ALWAYS available. You booked on line and did not contact us prior to making the booking, to check that a early arrival of time of 12-1 pm (wedding at 1.30pm) was OK. You did in fact check in at the time YOU had requested at NO extra charge (guest houses usually charge for early check in). We do not have 24 hour reception and from now on we will only accommodate early check in when pre arranged by phone and a charge may apply.
