We liked that is was tucked away in the countryside. Amazing for looking at the stars without any light pollution. The room was very comfortable and clean and the breakfast was good.
Dislikes:
It was slightly difficult to find the B&B because the some of the road signs were missing/broken off. This did make the final part of the journey an adventure.
Response from Manston Guest House:
Unfortunatly the council says it does not have any money to fix road signs! We have already reported it several times. Satnav on our post code (DT10 1HD) does work well however.

Manston Guest House is a 4 star rated luxury Guest Accommodation (B&B and self-catering) with Silver Award from Visit Britain. One Self-catering cottage is available_self rated. We are situated on the outskirts of the peaceful rural village of Manston near Shaftesbury in North Dorset, and we have plenty of free off road parking. We are ideally located for business (early breakfasts, CC payments, fast check outs, nearby pubs) or leisure, with local attractions all within about an hour including Shaftesbury (Gold Hill), Sherborne, Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge, Kingston Lacy, Stourhead, Avebury Stone Circles, Jurassic coast, Hardy's cottage, Larmer Tree Gardens, Compton Abbas airfield, Monkey World, Longleat (Safari Park), and Rushmore golf course, Dorchester and Weymouth (2012 olympics).
All bedrooms have top of the range Seally bed and are ensuite. For B&B guests we have 2 superior doubles 2 doubles and 2 singles and a twin all ensuite, All have towels, linen, toiletries & full English breakfast - and excellent food from our menu to order for room service or in our green apple dining room. All rooms have 32", or 26" TVs with free view, tea/coffee making facilities, radio/clock, FREE wireless broadband (WiFi), a hairdryer, iron and board, shoe horn and cloths brush. There is a separate entrance for guests (no steps). There is a shared laundry, a beautiful large garden with views to our field with Sika deer & in our garden a children’s play area with swings and a slide. A large scale tourist wall map and lots of brochures (in every room) are also provided. One cottage - Bluebell - is for self catering with a double (private bathroom) & an ensuite twin; a cosy guest sitting area with a log effect fire. Self catering has patio and BBQ.

At Manston Guest House, we strive to achieve the following:The best practices possible, taking into account the situation at Manston Guest House, to preserve the environment.
Waste and litter is kept to an absolute minimum and proper bins are provided outside.
Sanitary waste is disposed of according to regulations via an architect designed properly constructed disposal system. We are a supporter of Dorset wildlife making monthly contributions.
We provide information on local walks and local cycle hire and routes – one of which passes our door.
Our local wild birds are provided with purpose made nesting boxes (we have a small colony of sparrows). We also provide them with bird food during the winter months.
There is a local cycle hire shop within 10 minutes of the house. Insulation in the roof space is and always has been well above recommended levels of rock wool, usually up to +300mm.
