"Fawlty Towers!"
booked 2 rooms, one for a mate, they couldn't find his name (though the actual landlady could the next day - she showed me the guestbook. I guess she had the advantage of being able to read). Thus, my mate had to stay with my girlfriend and I. How romantic! Read less
Likes:
It's a quirky place (we had a bedroom which included a four poster bed and 2 singles) with a pub below. Decent pub, though unique 'banter' as one regular described battering his wife in the face.
Dislikes:
the mess up with the booking. How can anyone in charge of checking-in be unable to read a name?

Likes:
the staff tried to be friendly - but admitted they are always dealing with complaints
Dislikes:
unclean, no hot water, picture fell off the wall, lumpy bed, loud music until midnight, swearing and banging of doors from long-term residents on the same floor, all day drinkers in tbe bar
Response from The Crown Inn:
Thank you for your review.
1 this building is 400 years old, unlike a new building, you dont turn on the tap and have instant hot water.
2 we are a INN pub with rooms, Midnight is not late to have a bar open.
3 your daughter is 10 years old, there is a charge for children 10 and over, send me a cheque please.
4 pictures do not fall of the wall. this has been there for 5 years and more. was you trying to take it with you.
5 room has only just been renivated, it was not dirty.

Response from The Crown Inn:
On check in, this couple were taken to there room by a member of staff. We have had a problem with ivy growing over the building which has done a lot of damage, and belonged to Barcleys bank. This is in the hands of solicitors, and waiting for the work to begin. This was explained. Check out is at 10.15. this couple came down at 11.30, and still expected breakfast. we had new guests arriving at 12.00 breakfast end at 9.30.this is told at check in, and also written on the welcome form.
