Friendly staff, clean room, en suite.

The BnB is not super modern, but is completely fine if you are not expecting a luxury hotel.

"Adequate sums it up - would not go back."
Had a 2 night stay while at a conference. Stayed at a B&B instead of hotel so I could use a bike to the conference centre using the nearby cycle route. That's the only reason I stayed here. Wished I'd stuck with the hotel. Arrived late and no-one was there to greet me. Had to wait for someone (not the owner, no idea who this chap was) to let me in. Not very welcoming. Read less

The breakfast was OK.
Dislikes:
My room on the ground floor was small and dingy with a tiny en suite squeezed into one end of the room. The window gives out on to the breakfast room so didn't have much privacy.
Response from Cruachan Guest House:
Sorry you were not happy with us but, as you said, you did arrive late and we had an evening planned with friends.
Roy, who showed you in, did give you all relevant information regarding b/fast times etc. About the en-suite I agree, it is only adequate for a single room, I am sure hotels have larger en-suites but this will be reflected in the price.
The frosted window looks out at an angle to the conservator dinning room and a lack of privacy would only be if you fully opened the lower half.

Constructed in 1890, this centrally-located Victorian Villa has bedrooms on all floors. All our bedrooms are gas centrally heated and most have en-suite facilities.

The guesthouse is strictly non-smoking and all rooms have a full coffee and tea service and TV, many rooms are also equipped with hairdryers.

A very select breakfast is served in our bright conservatory which offers, apart from a full Scottish breakfast, porridge, local kippers plus a range of home made salmon fish cakes, tattie scones and cheese, onion and potato grills.

Edinburgh is one of the world's most distinguished and spectacular cities. Its atmospheric medieval Old Town and majestic Georgian New Town have both been designated World Heritage Sites.

Its Festival attracts visitors in their thousands. In or near its centre it boasts world-class art galleries and museums, the renowned Botanic Gardens and an extensive Zoological Park. It is a treasure trove for shoppers in search of anything from rare books and malt whiskies to bagpipes and full Highland dress.
