"Just perfect!"
From check in to check out the staff were accommodating, friendly and hard working. The food was delicious. You could taste they were using fresh and local ingredients. The room was nothing short of stunning. The bed so comfortable. The only thing I would have liked was better wifi. I travel a lot and must say this is now one of our most enjoyable meals and stays this year. We have two children 7 and 11 and they were also welcomed warmly. Thank you to your staff for a great stay. Read less

The food. The confort of the bed. Staying in a historical hotel.
Dislikes:
Wifi needs a lift.
Response from Cardynham House:
Thank you for your very nice review and we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. WiFi is a problem away from the guest lounge where the router is located and a few guest rooms. We have tried every way to extend the service to all rooms but so far the 6 foot thick walls have meant that we have not yet been able to do this. We keep trying.

"Lovely, relaxing stay"
We stayed here desperately seeking a weekend away from the chaos of London, and we certainly found it at Cardynham House. The staff were very friendly, the place itself is absolutely lovely and the room was comfortable. We left feeling completely relaxed and happy. The surrounding village and area is absolutely beautiful; we spent much of our time walking between the villages, enjoying the views and greenery surrounding us. The staff were really helpful in letting us know what routes to take. Read less

The building is in the centre of the village of Painswick, which is extremely beautiful. The food was pretty good and the Medieval room in which we stayed was very picturesque.
Dislikes:
The breakfast hours could have been a little more expansive, perhaps (I think it was from 8-9.30, which was fine but we were hoping for a bit more of a lie-in at the weekend).
Response from Cardynham House:
Thank you for your very nice comments - we are so happy that you enjoyed your stay and appreciate the time you have taken to do your review.

Our breakfast times are related to our latest check out time of 11AM and also our earliest check in time of 12:30 and Bistro opening for lunch at 12 noon.

Cardynham House is a charming comfortable hideaway in a Cotswold village close to Stroud in delightful Gloucestershire.

It enjoys a 4 Star Guest Accommodation Rating. Nestling quietly in the Cotswold hills, surrounded by some of Gloucestershire's most outstanding countryside is the historic wool town of Painswick. Built of mellow Cotswold stone from the local quarry on Painswick Beacon the town's many beautiful buildings can be seen as you wander around it's quaint and narrow streets.

There is a variety of small shops and galleries to browse around with pubs and restaurants. The Slad Valley, made famous by Laurie Lee in his book 'Cider with Rosie' is also noted for its wild flowers as is Scotsquar Common at Edge. Edge, Slad and Sheepscombe are all villages within walking distance of Painswick and well worth a visit.
The celebrated Rococo Gardens at Painswick House are open to the public throughout most of the year. In late Winter and early spring the carpets of snowdrops are truly breathtaking.

Cardynham House is a 15th-16th Century Grade 2* listed house. There is wealth of character to be found in every room each one decorated in a style of its own.

The house itself has a residents lounge with open fireplace and adjacent to this a conservatory with comfortable chairs overlooking a small internal courtyard.
Throughout the house are objects of interest, books, magazines and art works.

Check-in is from 12:30 to 22:00 & Check-out is by 11:00. Our rooms are all non-smoking.
