Great location and lovely room in an atmospheric old building with plenty of character. The food at the bistro was fantastic and delicious and the prices were good too. Service was swift and friendly.

The room and the views from the room - excellent.
Dislikes:
The wi-fi is non-existent in the room. This can be easily fixed with a wi-fi booster placed in the top floor of House, and I think if wi-fi is advertized, then it should be available in the rooms.
Response from Cardynham House:
Thank you for your very nice comments. We have tried installing a WiFi booster with no success as there is no available signal to boost. This is because the property was built in the late 15th century and the walls are solid stone up to 6 feet thick. We have tried other systems to get WiFi in more of the rooms but so far without success. A good WiFi signal is available in the guest lounge of course and some but not all rooms do get a good signal.

Cardynham House is a charming comfortable hideaway in a Cotswold village close to Stroud in delightful Gloucestershire.

It enjoys a 4 Star Guest Accommodation Rating. Nestling quietly in the Cotswold hills, surrounded by some of Gloucestershire's most outstanding countryside is the historic wool town of Painswick. Built of mellow Cotswold stone from the local quarry on Painswick Beacon the town's many beautiful buildings can be seen as you wander around it's quaint and narrow streets.

There is a variety of small shops and galleries to browse around with pubs and restaurants. The Slad Valley, made famous by Laurie Lee in his book 'Cider with Rosie' is also noted for its wild flowers as is Scotsquar Common at Edge. Edge, Slad and Sheepscombe are all villages within walking distance of Painswick and well worth a visit.
The celebrated Rococo Gardens at Painswick House are open to the public throughout most of the year. In late Winter and early spring the carpets of snowdrops are truly breathtaking.

Cardynham House is a 15th-16th Century Grade 2* listed house. There is wealth of character to be found in every room each one decorated in a style of its own.

The house itself has a residents lounge with open fireplace and adjacent to this a conservatory with comfortable chairs overlooking a small internal courtyard.
Throughout the house are objects of interest, books, magazines and art works.

Check-in is from 12:30 to 22:00 & Check-out is by 11:00. Our rooms are all non-smoking.
