"Great location but dissapointed by room furnishings and breakfast"
The room was entitled 'Arabian nights' so was expecting this to be a themed room. It wasn't. This would have made the room if thought had been put into this. Would have expected a choice of Tea and coffee facilities at the price of room/ overnight stay. Noise of others guests can be heard through ceiling but that is to be expected in such an old establishments as this. Read less
Likes:
The hotel is in a great location, right in the heart of Painswick. Access to the great Cotswolds countryside. Staff were very friendly and helpful, no complaints at all here. A range of b'fast choice.
Dislikes:
Not value for money. Outdated furniture/ upholstery, peeing plaster in bathroom area. Breakfast choice good but ingredients were cheap, especially the sausages which couldn't be eaten.

Cardynham House is a charming comfortable hideaway in a Cotswold village close to Stroud in delightful Gloucestershire.

It enjoys a 4 Star Guest Accommodation Rating. Nestling quietly in the Cotswold hills, surrounded by some of Gloucestershire's most outstanding countryside is the historic wool town of Painswick. Built of mellow Cotswold stone from the local quarry on Painswick Beacon the town's many beautiful buildings can be seen as you wander around it's quaint and narrow streets.

There is a variety of small shops and galleries to browse around with pubs and restaurants. The Slad Valley, made famous by Laurie Lee in his book 'Cider with Rosie' is also noted for its wild flowers as is Scotsquar Common at Edge. Edge, Slad and Sheepscombe are all villages within walking distance of Painswick and well worth a visit.
The celebrated Rococo Gardens at Painswick House are open to the public throughout most of the year. In late Winter and early spring the carpets of snowdrops are truly breathtaking.

Cardynham House is a 15th-16th Century Grade 2* listed house. There is wealth of character to be found in every room each one decorated in a style of its own.

The house itself has a residents lounge with open fireplace and adjacent to this a conservatory with comfortable chairs overlooking a small internal courtyard.
Throughout the house are objects of interest, books, magazines and art works.

Check-in is from 12:30 to 22:00 & Check-out is by 11:00. Our rooms are all non-smoking.
