St Maur is a detached Victorian Villa built in 1876 as a private residence. Over recent years the owners have tried to make the accommodation in the original building back to how it would have been when first built. This means that the 4 bedrooms in the main house are spacious with large en-suite bathrooms and all have views overlooking the park and the sea beyond. The other 4 bedrooms are all en-suite and have views overlooking the gardens to the east or west.

St Maur is situated to the west of Ventnor town centre in a quiet location and set in it's own sub-tropical gardens enjoying its own micro climate.

The bedrooms have all recently been upgraded to today's standards with well appointed en-suite bathooms with either electric or power showers over the bath or separate shower cubicles. The bedrooms all have duvets, all centrally heated in the colder months, choices of tea and coffee making facilities. Freeview 32" Screen TV's. Many guests return as they feel part of the St Maur family as most staff members have worked here for many years. The atmosphere is a homely, friendly, cheerful one. Being a Victorian Villa the public rooms are large and airy, there is a Licensed honesty bar where you can help yourselves to a drink and pay later. Here you will find a piano and if you are lucky someone may play a few tunes during the evening! The general lounge is an area to sit and relax after a day out exploring. In the evening after dinner you can enjoy tea or coffee. The dining room faces due south and looks out onto the tropical garden. Many have remarked that you could indeed be in the Mediterranean. The gardens at the back of the building are laid out to grow vegetables and fruit and at certain times of the year we are able to supply the restaurant with our own produce.

The menus are changed daily and there is always a choice and we cater for all diets including those with food allergies. Local fish is our specialty and is served twice a week but available every day on request at a small extra charge. The cuisine is mainly English, breakfast is buffet style for fruit and cereals and you can order from the good selection of hot choices. One of the best things about the location is the closeness of the many walks that are in and around Ventnor, these being the coastal footpaths to Ventnor and beyond or to St Lawrence and the Undercliff. We are also about a 15 minute walk to the Botanical Gardens.
Environmental Statement
We are doing our best to look after the Islands unique environment and want to save energy where we can in order not to waste these precious resources. We encourage all our guests to help us do this. Although we do have low energy light bulbs we would ask you to turn off all lights and electrical appliances when leaving your room. Please do not leave your television on standby as this still uses electricity. On a general note we endeavour to recycle as much rubbish as possible. All glass goes to the bottle bank and all cardboard and paper is recycled. We know you will enjoy our beautiful Island but you may like to leave your car at the hotel and use our public transport to explore. Or leave your car and discover one of the many coastal or country walks that are close to hand.
